As part of an expansion of its intermodal strategy, Air Canada has announced a new partnership with South Korea's KORAIL – opening new rail connections within South Korea.
The Montreal, Canada-based carrier announced the new partnership – Air Canada's first rail partner in South Korea and Asia – which will allow its customers to connect onto KORAIL's KTX high-speed trains after arriving at Seoul Incheon International Airport for travel to up to eight cities including Busan, Dongdaegu, Gwangju, Jinju, Mokpo, Pohang, Ulsan, and Yeosu.
Air Canada currently operates operates flights to Incheon Airport from Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal (seasonal-summer). Upon arrival, travelers can connect onto the KTX high-speed trains via the AREX Express and Seoul Station. Travel time within South Korea is under 3 hours.
Previously launched in December 2023 with partners in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, Air Canada's new rail partnerships include KORAIL (South Korea), Trenitalia (Italy), Renfe (Spain), and five companies in the United Kingdom including National Rail. Travelers can book connections on rail or bus connections along with their flight bookings all on the same itinerary and ticket.
“The expanded offer will make it easy for our customers flying to and from our international hubs to add convenient rail or bus connections on a single itinerary. Our intermodal connections not only provide more choice, but also make available sustainable options for short-haul segments of their journey,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning and President, Cargo at Air Canada.
