According to aeroroutes, the Beijing-based carrier will start the route between Beijing-Capital and Sao Paulo-Gaurulhos via Madrid from April 28. Operating twice-weekly, Air China will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the route.
With the new route, the carrier will increase its flights between Beijing and Madrid from 7 to 9 weekly flights.
The new route will mark the return of Air China in the Central and South American market since the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline last operated flights on the same route until March 2020. Separately, Air China also operated flights to Panama City via Houston between May 2018 and February 2020.
Air China's planned resumption of flights to Sao Paulo is a new addition of flights connecting China and Central/South America. Separately, China Southern announced it will launch a new route from Shenzhen to Mexico City on April 17.
