Passengers departing on international flights from Delhi are now able to check-in for their flights at two metro stations in the city.

The Gurugram, India-based carrier announced that check-in for international flights from Delhi International Airport (DIAL) can now be done through the Delhi Airport Check-in & Baggage Drop facilities at New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations.

Currently available for domestic flights,  Delhi Airport Check-in & Baggage Drop facilities – part of a collaboration between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and DIAL - enables passengers to check-in for their flights and explore Delhi. While travelers can explore the city baggage-free, the baggage are securely loaded onto the aircraft through an advanced automated infrastructure developed by DMRC and DIAL.

"Our partnership with DMRC & DIAL stands testament to our commitment to offering passengers an enhanced and seamless travel experience. This initiative not only provides a cost-effective option for travellers coming from distant locations but also helps control congestion at the airport, leading to a better experience for all our customers. Further to the technology interventions partnered and implemented by Air India & DIAL, such as DigiYatra, Self-Baggage Drop machines at airport terminals, this initiative will significantly enhance the convenience and satisfaction of our customers,”said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Air India.

Check-in at the two metro stations is open from 0700H to 2100H. Air India has advised check-in for domestic flights can be done between 12 hours until 2 hours before the scheduled departure, and between 4 hours and 2 hours for international flights. From the stations, a metro triop – operating every 10 minutes – takes approximately 19 minutes to reach Delhi Airport Terminal 3.
