Air India will continue to operate twelve weekly flights to Gatwick from three cities in India – Amristar, Ahmedabad, and Goa.
Fleet Modernization Update
In addition to the summer service updates, Air India stated it will complete the modernization of its narrowbody fleet by mid-2025.
For its widebody fleet, the first Boeing 787 will undergo a retrofit of new seats and entertainment systems in April before re-entering service in October. Then, two-to-three 787s will be retrofitted at a time until the entire work on the entire 27 787s are completed.
Due to production constraints at the selected seat supplier, Air India stated the retrofit of the Boeing 777 fleet – originally scheduled to start in 2025 – will now start in early 2026.
“In the meantime, Air India is taking the opportunity to refresh as many other elements of the B777 interiors as feasible during 2025, ahead of the full retrofit program,” Air India said in a statement.
