Air India announced it will shift its Delhi-Tokyo service from Narita Airport to Haneda as part of an expanded codeshare partnership with All Nippon Airways (ANA).

Air India announced it will shift its Delhi-Tokyo service from Narita Airport to Haneda as part of an expanded codeshare partnership with All Nippon Airways (ANA).

The Gurugram, India-based airline stated that the shift of its four-times weekly Delhi-Tokyo service (AI358/AI359) to Haneda Airport – the closest of the two Tokyo area hubs to the city center – will start on March 31. Air India will continue to use its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft on the route. The last flights to/from Narita will arrive/depart on March 30.

Moving our flights to Haneda Airport is a significant advantage for our guests – it brings them much closer to the centre of Tokyo. With this shift, we are not only connecting two vibrant capitals more effectively but also helping boost trade and tourism between India and Japan”, said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India.

Air India's shift to Haneda highlights the expanded codeshare partnership which will see ANA add its NH flight code on Air India-operated flights from Delhi to six cities in India - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune from March 30. The codeshare on Air India-operated flights between Delhi and Haneda will start the following day (March 31).

In return, Air India will place its AI flight code on domestic flights within Japan operated by ANA from Haneda to six cities – Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Okinawa, Osaka (Itami), and Sapporo starting April 1.

Both the Indian and Japanese Star Alliance member airlines previously signed a codeshare agreement in April 2024 covering flights on the Haneda-Delhi and Narita-Mumbai routes operated by ANA, and Air India's Delhi-Tokyo service.
