Due to ongoing engine availability challenges across its fleet, Air New Zealand will not operate its seasonal flights to Seoul this winter season.

In a release posted on February 5, Air New Zealand announced it will conclude its seasonal service between Seoul Incheon and Auckland with the last flight on March 29. The airline will not resume the seasonal service during the winter season starting in October.

Air New Zealand currently operates three weekly flights between Incheon and Seoul using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

"We understand this will be disappointing for some customers, and we sincerely apologise for the impact,” said Jeremy O'Brien, Chief Commercial Officer, Air New Zealand. “Due to the ongoing challenges with engine availability, we have reviewed our network to ensure we are set up to operate our schedule effectively and best deliver for our customers' needs."

The airline noted that customers affected by the change will be contacted and advised on their rebooking and refund options. Air New Zealand noted customers will have connecting options to South Korea via Singapore, Taipei, or Hong Kong with partner airlines.

"We remain committed to providing seamless travel experiences for our customers and will work closely with our partners to ensure connectivity to Seoul remains accessible,” O'Brien added.

After the end of its seasonal Incheon-Auckland flights, Korean Air will be the lone airline operating flights between the two cities.
