AirAsia Cambodia has completed its first international flight within months after its launch.

AirAsia Cambodia has completed its first international flight within months after its launch.

The Cambodia-based AirAsia carrier – the newest addition to the Malaysia-based AirAsia group – operated its inaugural international flight with KT168 from Phnom Penh to Kuala Lumpur on August 1.

Between Phnom Penh and Kuala Lumpur, AirAsia Cambodia offers daily flights between the two cities.

According to AirAsia Cambodia's CEO Vissoth Nam, the load factor on the inaugural international flight to Kuala Lumpur was 99%. The new AirAsia carrier – launched three months ago – has served 25,861 passengers on domestic flights. AirAsia Cambodia operates domestically between the cities of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville.

"Cambodia's tourism sector has been on a robust growth trajectory, with the government actively promoting the country as a prime tourist destination. In the first half of 2024 alone, Cambodia welcomed more than three million international tourists. We anticipate that our new route between Phnom Penh and Kuala Lumpur will further boost tourist arrivals between the two countries,” Nam said.

Nam further stated the new airline is committed to launch more international routes to support Cambodia's tourism and economic development goals.

“We are committed to introducing more international routes across the region this year while conducting feasibility studies for destinations such as Cebu, Bali, and others to support the government's strategy,” Nam added.

Passengers flying on the new Phnom Penh-Kuala Lumpur service will be able to connect onto AirAsia's broader network via its Kuala Lumpur hub.
