AirAsia is continuing to expand its presence in China with the launch of a new route from Kota Kinabalu to Kunming.


The Malaysia-based budget carrier announced it will launch a thrice-weekly service from Kota Kinabalu – its second largest hub in Malaysia – to Kunming – the capital of China's Yunnan province - from September 25. The outbound flight will depart every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings. The return flight will depart in the early morning every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.


With the addition of Kunming, AirAsia will add to its services to China from Kota Kinabalu. The carrier currently offers 69 weekly flights on 10 routes from Kota Kinabalu to China.


Kunming is the fourth destination AirAsia will add from Kota Kinabalu within the next few months. From Kota Kinabalu, AirAsia will launch flights to Ningbo (August 2), Kuala Lumpur's Subang Airpprt (August 30), and Manado (September 1).
