Alaska Airlines Group has announced it will launch a new route connecting Seattle and Seoul, South Korea.
From September 12, the new service five-times weekly service (outbound – Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday/inbound – Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) between Seattle and Seoul Incheon will be operated using Hawaiian Airlines' Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
According to Alaska Airlines Group, it intends to bring its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft - also from Hawaiian Airlines - on the route in the future.
“We look forward to adding our flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to the Seattle-Seoul Incheon route soon,” the airline said in a statement.
The new Seattle-Incheon route is part of the Alaska Airlines Group's plans to develop its new global gateway of Seattle after completing the merger with Hawaiian Airlines. As part of its plans to serve at least 12 global destinations from Seattle by 2030, the Alaska Air Group announced it will launch daily flights from Seattle to Tokyo Narita staring May 12, 2025.
“With our robust network, we can connect our guests through our global gateway in Seattle for convenient nonstop service to Seoul and Tokyo, with additional connections to other Asian destinations with our global partner, said Andrew Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer, Alaska Airlines. “As we grow our global network from Seattle in the coming years, we’ll announce new international routes to dynamic destinations that we know our guests are going to love to visit.”
The Alaska Airlines Group reported that both its group carriers – Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian - are working to obtain a single operating certificate from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Until the expected issuance of the certificate by October 2025, both airlines will operate separately. Following the combination, the airline group states it will keep the two brands.
