Batik Air Malaysia will launch two new routes to Thailand – Hat Yai and Krabi – from Kuala Lumpur.
From September 13, the Malaysia-based Lion Air Group airline will operate daily flights each from Kuala Lumpur to both cities using Boeing 737-800 aircraft featuring Business and Economy class seats.
According to Batik Air, the expansion marks a “significant milestone” in the airline's commitment to enhance travel options and seamless connectivity across the Southeast Asian region's most enchanting destinations.
The new routes will offer a new link between Thailand and Malaysia, where both countries have seen a rise in tourists from each other.
“Last year alone, 4.62 million Malaysian tourists explored Thailand’s wonders, underlining the growing appeal of destinations like Hat Yai and Krabi. This expansion aligns with our commitment to meet rising demand and deliver exceptional travel experiences,” said Batik Air Chief Executive Officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy.
In Thailand, the Tourism Authority of Thailand reports that Malaysia currently ranks as the top visitor market to Krabi, while Hat Yai welcomes around 2.5 million visitors from Malaysia per year.
The new routes will add to Batik Air Malaysia's current network of routes to Thailand to four. The airline currently operates flights from Kuala Lumpur to the Thai capital city of Bangkok and Phuket.
