Cathay Group to increase flights to Mainland China

The Cathay Group will increase its flights between Hong Kong and Mainland China this summer. Among the cities that will see additional flight services including Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, and Ningbo.


According to the Cathay Group, the increased flights – which will be operated by Cathay Pacific and its budget subsidiary HK Express - will have a focus on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta regions, providing a combined 300 return flights during the peak summer travel period.


Cathay Group states it will operate nearly 40% more flights between Hong Kong and Mainland China compared to 2024.


The additional flight services are as follows:


Beijing – A total of 56 weekly flights to the two Beijing-area hubs – Beijing Capital and Daxing. Cathay Pacific will increase its flights to Beijing Capital to seven-times daily. HK Express also will continue to operate its daily flight to Daxing.

Shanghai – Cathay Pacific to operate a total of 67 flights to the two Shanghai-area hubs – Pudong and Hongquiao Airports. Cathay Pacific will increase its flights to eight-times daily to Pudong, while it will operate its 11 weekly flights to Hongquiao.

Zhengzhou – From four-times weekly to daily by Cathay Pacific.

Ningbo - From four-times weekly to daily by Cathay Pacific; in addition to HK Express' daily flights.

Haikou - From four-times weekly to daily by Cathay Pacific.

Chongqing - From four-times weekly to daily by Cathay Pacific.

Hangzhou – Four-times daily

Nanjing – Twice daily

Wenzhou – 10 weekly flights

Wuhan – 12 weekly flights


In addition to the flight frequency increases to Mainland Chinese cities, Cathay Pacific will launch its new route between Hong Kong and Urumqi on April 28.
