As part of efforts to standardize its check-in times across its network, Cathay Pacific has advised check-in for flights from June 25 will close 1 hour (60 minutes) prior to departure.

In an advisory on its website on June 11, the Hong Kong-based carrier stated the change will be effective 0001H (12:01AM) on June 25. To provide extra flexibility and control, the airline will also be extending the availability of online check-in by an additional 30 minutes and close it 60 minutes before departure.

“For a seamless start to their journey and to reduce waiting times at the airport, we encourage all customers to check in online and obtain a mobile boarding pass (where available) before coming to the airport. We also remind customers travelling with checked baggage to arrive well ahead of time as baggage drop counters will also close sharply 60 minutes before departure from 25 June,” the airline said in its advisory.

While the standard check-in closure times for Cathay Pacific worldwide will be 60 minutes before departure, the airline noted three exceptions:

  • Chinese Mainland – Check-in counter closure times will vary between 60-40 minutes before departure as mandated by local airport authorities

  • France – 75 minutes before departure due to infrastructure limitations at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) Terminal 1

  • Vietnam – Check-in counters will continue to close 50 minutes before departure as mandated by local airport authorities at Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)

Customers traveling with Cathay Pacific until June 25 are advised to visit its airport information page for current check-in times for their departure airports. The pages will be updated on June 25 as the new standard comes into effect.
