China Airlines will introduce upgraded cabins onboard its Airbus A350 in 2027.
The Taipei, Taiwan-based airline announced on December 9 that Airbus has been contracted to provide integration and technical services for the retrofit of the airline's 15 A350-900 aircraft.
Both China Airlines and Airbus previously signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the retrofit project in May 2024.
According to China Airlines, the first retrofitted A350 is expected to enter service in 2027. Cabin upgrades of all A350s will be completed by 2028, with the aircraft featuring the “same Oriental aesthetic of the current cabins.”
China Airlines was the first Taiwan-based airline to introduce the A350 in 2016. The airline's 15 A350-900s feature 306 seats in a three-class configuration – 32 Premium Business, 31 Premium Economy, and 243 Economy. China Airlines currently deploys the aircraft on its long-haul routes to Europe, the United States, and Australia/New Zealand. In addition, the A350 is also used on regional routes.
