China Southern will resume flights to Cebu from Guangzhou after pause of more than four years, and introduce a new route to the central Philippine city from Shanghai.

Announced on a post on X, the Guangzhou-based carrier announced the restart for its Guangzhou-Cebu route will take place on July 12. The airline will operate four weekly  flights on the route – previously served until February 2020 – using Airbus A320 aircraft.

Before the Guangzhou route resumption, China Southern will launch its new service between Shanghai-Pudong and Cebu from July 1. Operating four-times weekly, Airbus A321 aircraft will be used on the route.

Based on a report from Aeroroutes, with evening departures and arrival times after midnight (~1AM), the return flights on both routes will depart the following morning.

While China Southern will be the lone carrier to offer flights between Guangzhou and Cebu, it will join Shanghai-based China Eastern on the Shanghai-Cebu route.
