During a recent ceremony, the Philippine Department of Transportation (DOTr) alon with four government agencies and three private companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a city check-in facility at SM City Clark.
“This off-site check-in facility, a standard in various world-class airports, brings Clark Airport a step closer to its vision of becoming a premier aviation gateway in this logistics corridor,” DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim said at the ceremony.
Clark International Airport Corp (CIAC) said the facility is an additional assistance to passengers departing through the CRK.
“The check-in facility inside a popular mall will definitely have a positive impact because, more than just an additional service, it will add to the convenience of CRK passengers,” said Arrey Perez, President and CEO, CIAC.
According to Noel Manankil, President and CEO of airport operator Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corp (LIPAD) said the details of the “pro-traveler” system works is still being finalized.
Manankil added the “added convenience of checking in before reaching the airport would truly enhance CRK’s appeal as an airport of choice while showcasing Clark’s vibrant location.”
The plan for the new city check-in facility at Clark will be first of its kind in the Philippines. In other parts of Asia, travelers departing from Hong Kong and Seoul can check-in for their flights operated by select airlines at offsite facilities.
