EVA Air unveiled its new Premium Economy Class seats on a recently delivered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft that features a seat pitch of 42 inches.
The new Premium Economy seat – the airline's fourth version since 1992 – was unveiled onboard a recently delivered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The seats will be installed on eight more 787-9s that will be delivered to EVA Air through 2029 with 278 seats in a three-class configuration - 26 Royal Laurel Class, 28 Premium Economy, and 224 Economy.
EVA Air also operates 787-9s with a two-class configuration with 304 seats - 26 Royal Laurel Class and 278 Economy.
“As the world’s first airline to launch Premium Economy Class, EVA Air has consistently focused on innovation driven by passenger needs and setting industry trends,” said Clay Sun, President, EVA Air. “The fourth-generation seats retain the core philosophy of previous generations while enhancing comfort, fashion, and functionality, showcasing our commitment to service innovation and attention to detail.”
The new Premium Economy Class onboard the 787-9 features 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. The cradle motion recline mechanism allows the seat cushion to slide forward and upward simultaneously to provide a recline of 8 inches while preserving the space for passengers seating behind. Each seat also has a 15.6-inch high-resolution widescreen monitor, side privacy panels, a tray table with a holder for personal devices, and 110V AC and USB combo power outlets. Storage spaces are available in the armrests, seatback compartments, and dedicated bottle holders. Wheelchair-accessible armrest on aisle seats ensures that flight attendants can assist passengers with special needs.
At present, Premium Economy seats on EVA Air flights have a 38-inch seat pitch.
According to EVA Air, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with the new Premium Economy seats will be operated on flights between Taipei Taoyuan and Jakarta, then to Munich, Milan, Vienna, and San Francisco.
