Geneva, Tokyo Haneda, and Brussels will be the first three cities to be served by Emirates' Boeing 777 aircraft fitted with its newest interiors.
The Dubai-based carrier announced the deployment of the refurbished 777s to the three cities starting in August. The first destination to be served by the refurbished 777s is Geneva, where Emirates will introduce the aircraft on the route on EK83/EK84 from August 11. The aircraft will then be deployed to Tokyo Haneda (EK312/EK313) from September 1, followed by Brussels (EK183/EK184) from September 11.
Emirates stated that while scheduled, the deployment of the aircraft could be advanced if the aircraft retrofit is completed earlier.
Following the ongoing refurbishment of its Airbus A380s, Emirates will begin refurbishment work on the first of 81 Boeing 777 aircraft on July 1. Upon completion, the new 777 cabin will feature a new First Class cabin, the installation of 38 new Business Class seats in an updated 1-2-1 configuration, 24 of the latest Premium Economy seats, and 256 Economy seats.
In a statement, Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Airline said: “Borrowing inspiration from our flagship A380 in every cabin, our Boeing 777 with revamped interiors boast the very best in customer comfort and will feature modern design details and signature cabin finishings, with a new Business Class cabin that provides more privacy for our customers, in addition to other thoughtful touches that underscore our exceptional value proposition. Our investment and intense focus on offering the best possible product across every cabin class also ensures we provide a consistent experience on both the Boeing 777s and A380s.”
The 777 refurbishment is part of Emirates' USD $3 billion retrofit program covering a total of 191 Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft. Emirates currently deploys its refurbished A380s with its new Premium Economy seats to New York-JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London-Heathrow, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Sao Paulo, Tokyo-Narita, and Osaka.
With the anticipated addition of the Airbus A350 aircraft to its fleet later this year and the completion of more aircraft refitting, Emirates plans to offer its Premium Economy seats to a total of 36 destinations by February 2025.
