Emirates to deploy A350 to Kuwait, Bahrain; increase flights to Colombo

To start the new year, Emirates will increase its flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka, and introduce its Airbus A350s to Kuwait and Bahrain.


From January 8, Emirates will operate its Airbus A350 aircraft on one daily service to Kuwait (EK853/EK854), and two of the three daily flights to Bahrain (EK837/EK838 and EK839/EK840).


Emirates currently operates 29 weekly flights to Kuwait and 22 to Bahrain. Both routes will see the mix of Boeing 777 and A350 aircaft operated by the airline on its flights from Dubai.


The A350 is the newest addition to Emirates' fleet. Equipped with 312 seats in a three-class configuration – 32 lie-flat Business seats, 21 Premium Economy, and 259 Economy – the aircraft features the airline's latest inflight Wi-Fi and entertainment systems.  


Service increase to Colombo


Between January 2 and March 31, Emirates will operate an additional six-times weekly service between Dubai and Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport. Operating as EK654/EK655, the service will be further increased to seven weekly from April 1.


Emirate will use Boeing 777 aircraft on the route with 360 seats – 8 First Class suites, 42 Business, and 310 Economy.


With the additional flights, Emirates will increase its daily capacity to Colombo by 30%. Emirates currently operates three flights to Colombo – two direct Dubai-Colombo flights and a third daily service via Male, Maldives.
