Indonesia AirAsia will launch a new direct link between Jakarta and Brunei's capital.


The Indonesia-based AirAsia carrier announced that from August 2, it will operate flights between Jakarta and Bandar Seri Begawan. Three weekly flights will be offered on the route operating every Sunday, Wednesday, Friday).


With the addition of Brunei's capital, Indonesia AirAsia's network will include flights to six countries . The airline currently offers flights to Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Cambodia.


The new Jakarta-Bandar Seri Begawan route will be the second international route introduced by Indonesia AirAsia after the introduction of the Jakarta-Kota Kinabalu route in February.


In a statement, Indonesia AirAsia President Director Veranita Yosephine said the direct flight to Brunei is also expected to create more opportunities for both countries to boost the number of tourists and strengthen ties between the governments of Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.  


Between Jakarta and Bandar Seri Begawan, Royal Brunei Airlines is currently the only airline offering direct flights on the route.
