As part of its summer schedule for its international network in 2025, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced it will launch services between Tokyo-Narita and Chicago, and introduce its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on its routes to Paris and Los Angeles.
As part of its summer schedule for its international network in 2025, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced it will launch services between Tokyo-Narita and Chicago, and introduce its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on its routes to Paris and Los Angeles.
The Tokyo-based airline announced its plans to launch its direct flights between Narita and Chiago-O'Hare on May 31. According to JAL, the new route – which will operate as a codeshare service with joint venture partner American Airlines – will meet the demand for travel between Japan and North America, as well as connecting demand between Southeast Asia, India, and North America.
Between Tokyo and Chicago, All Nippon Airways (ANA), JAL, and United operate flights from Haneda while ANA is the lone airline currently operating flights from Narita.
From May 1, JAL will also stated it will deploy its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on its flights from Haneda to both Paris. The airline will also deploy the aircraft on its Haneda-Los Angeles route, though the airline stated the launch date will be announced later.
Summer International Flight Additions
To accommodate the high demand, JAL will increase its flights to daily on its Narita-San Diego and Narita-Bengaluru routes from March 30 to October 25.
Between July 18 and October 25, the airline will operate daily flights on the following routes: Osaka-Kansai to Los Angeles, Kansai-Honolulu, and Nagoya-Chubu to Honolulu.
The Narita-Honolulu route will be increased to two daily flights during the month of July (July 1-31).
JAL's Okinawa-based subsidiary Japan Transocean Air (JTA) will also operate its first international flights between Naha (Okinawa) and Taipei-Taoyuan within the fiscal year 2025. The exact launch date will be announced later.
Domestic Network Updates
JAL announced it will introduce its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft on its Haneda-Miyako route in August (August 1-31). As it introduces its “JAL First Class Service” with the deployment of the 787, it will be first time the airline will use the Dreamliner on the route.
During the same month (August), JAL will use bring back the 787-8 on its Haneda-Ishigaki route. The airline previously deployed the Dreamliner on the aircraft last year.
From March 30, the route between Osaka-Itami and Misawa wil be increased from one daily to twice daily.
From June 1, the airline will temporarily increase its flights from Itami to Sapporo (New Chitose) from four daily to five daily.
