Jetstar Asia has announced it will introduce new flights between Singapore and Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Singapore-based Jetstar group carrier stated from November 21, it wil operate five weekly flights between Singapore and Colombo. Using Airbus A320 aircraft, the new flights will provide more than 90,000 between the two cities each year.

According to Jetstar, the split schedule offers morning and evening departures from Singapore, and connections for those connecting in Singapore on Jetstar Airways-operated flights from Melbourne or Perth. Evening departures (from Singapore) will be available three-times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday) and twice a week for morning departures (Thursday, Sunday).

“Today’s announcement demonstrates our ongoing commitment to introducing exciting new destinations and I want to thank Changi Airport Group, Sri Lanka Tourism, Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka and Hayleys for their ongoing support,” said John Simeone, CEO, Jetstar Asia.

Jetstar Asia will be the first and only budget carrier operating flights between Singapore and Colombo. Singapore Airlines and SriLankan Airlines currently operates daily flights each on the route.
