After unveiling its new corporate identity ahead of the integration of Asiana Airlines, Korean Air announced it will upgrade its airport lounges and introduce Premium Economy cabins as part of its service enhancement strategy.

The Seoul, South Korea-based airline will introduce Premium Economy seating with the retrofit of 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in response to growing market demand. On the 11 777s, the First Class cabins will be removed to install the Premium Economy cabins.

According to Korean Air, the first retrofitted aircraft will enter service during the second half of 2025 with a three-class configuration – Prestige (Business), Premium Economy, and Economy. Fleet modifications will continue through 2026 to expand Premium Economy seat availability across more routes.

Airport Lounge Updates

Along with announcing the introduction of its Premium Economy Class product, Korean Air also announced the expansion and renovation of its existing lounges at Seoul Incheon International Airport Terminal 2.

During Incheon Airport's Phase 4 expansion and ahead of the relocation of Asiana Airlines into Terminal 2, new “Prestige Class Garden Lounges” will be built in both the east and west wings of the terminal building.

The existing Prestige Class Lounge in Terminal 2's east wing will double in size, while the Miler Club will also be expanded. The four lounges are scheduled to open in phases from April 2025.

In Terminal 2's west wing, the First Class Lounge and Prestige Class Lounge will undergo renovations and reopen in April 2026.

Korean Air states that once all six lounges are open after the upgrades are completed, the airline will increase the overall lounge space by 2.5 times and double seating capacity.

In addition to the upgrades of its lounges at Incheon Airport Terminal 2, Korean Air will also renovate lounges at major overseas air hubs including Los Angeles and New York-JFK Airport.

Korean Air also will update its mobile app to include real-time information on lounge location, amenities, reservations, and crowd levels.
