Lufthansa extends Airbus A380 deployment on Munich-Bangkok route

Ahead of Thailand's peak Songkran holiday season, Lufthansa announced it will extend the use of its Airbus A380 superjumbo on its Munich-Bangkok route.


Announced by the Lufthansa Group, the German airline will operate the A380 on additional flights through April 25.


Aeroroutes reports Lufthansa will operate the aircraft on the daily flights between Munich and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (LH772/LH773). The last return flight will depart Bangkok on April 26.


“As one of the most significant cultural events in Thailand, the Songkran holiday attracts millions of travelers both domestically and internationally. Lufthansa’s decision to extend its A380 service aims to provide travelers with enhanced capacity and superior comfort during this busy travel period,” the Lufthansa Group said in a statement.


Currently using the superjumbo during the winter season,  while Lufthansa uses Airbus A350 or A340 aircraft on the route during the summer season.


Combined, the Lufthansa Group operates up to 31 weekly flights between Europe and Thailand.


As of February 2025, Lufthansa currently operates its A380s from Munich to seven destinations: New York-JFK, Boston, Los Angeles, Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi, Washington-Dulles, Delhi, and Denver.
