Qatar Airways and China Southern have announced the next phase of their partnership which will includes a comprehensive codeshare agreement.

The Doha and Guangzhou, China-based carriers announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which outlines a framework to boost their market presence and collaboration in cargo and frequent flier programs.

As part of the partnership, both carriers will further collaborate to provide members of their frequent flier programs – Privilege Club and Sky Pearl Club – benefits such as spending Avios/Miles on flights operated by both carriers, as well as lounge access and other airport offerings for premium customers.

In a statement, Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer noted the partnership will build on the existing partnership between both carriers following the launch of China Southern's services between Doha and Guangzhou in April.

“It is a proud milestone for us to serve the prominent Chinese market in collaboration with our key partner, and look forward to extending our award-winning offerings to travellers flying through China,” Al-Meer said.

Han Wensheng, President and CEO of China Southern Air Holding Company Limited added: “In the future, China Southern Airlines will deepen cooperation with Qatar Airways, strengthen complementary advantages, and work together to bring more comfortable and convenient travel experiences to our passengers.”

Combined, both China Southern and Qatar Airways operates a total of 11 weekly flights between Doha and Guangzhou.
