Qatar Airways will resume flights to Damascus, Syria after a 13-year absence.


From January 7, 2025, the Doha, Qatar-based airline will operate three weekly flights between Doha and Damascus.


With the resumption of flights to Syria, Qatar Airways will be the first international airline to resume regular scheduled services to Syria. Previously, the airline operated flights to Damascus and Aleppo before the Syrian civil war.


In a statement, Qatar Airways said: “The decision to restart operations to Syria reflects the airline’s commitment to fostering regional connectivity and supporting passenger demand. Qatar Airways is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary safety, security, and operational standards are met ahead of the relaunch.”


“We are pleased to resume flights to Damascus, a destination of great historical and cultural importance,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. “This announcement underscores our dedication to fostering connectivity and facilitating travel for our passengers.”
