Scoot announces new routes to Kertajati and Malacca, deployment of E190-E2s to more destinations

The Singapore Airlines' budget subsidiary announced the first of the two routes – from Singapore to Kertajati – will start with two weekly flights from September 28. Then, a five-times weekly service to Malacca will start on October 23.


Scoot's announcement follows the recent announcement it will launch flights to Subang Airport – the secondary airport of Kuala Lumpur -from September 1.


More E-Jet Deliveries 


Scoot further added it will receive its third and fourth Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which have been named “Jalan-Jalan” and “Travel Kaki.” With the additional E190-E2s, the airline will deploy the aircraft on its existing routes.


The continued deployment of Scoot's E190-E2s will start with two weekly flights to Pekanbaru, in addition to its current thrice-weekly flights with Airbus A320s. From October, services will be increased to Balikpapan and Makassar from three to four-times weekly. From November, Scoot will use the E190-E2s as it will increase services to Davao from seven to nine weekly. Services will then be increased from three to four-times weekly to Vientiane from December.


“We are excited to announce the addition of another two new destinations to our growing network – Kertajati in Indonesia and Malacca in Malaysia,” said Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer, Scoot. “Since the launch of our E190-E2 aircraft in May, we continue to see strong demand for our flights, which we have connected many of our customers to/from our various destinations across Southeast Asia.”


Together with destinations served by Scoot's existing fleet, Scoot will operate 78 weekly flights to Indonesia and 115 weekly flights to Malaysia by October, 37 weekly to the Philippines by November, and four weekly to Laos by December. The airline's network will expand to 72 destinations.
