Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia have announced the two carriers will increase flights between Jakarta and Singapore during the fourth quarter of 2024, as both carriers strengthen their commercial partnership.
From November 22, Singapore Airlines will increase its flights from six to eight daily flights between Singapore and Jakarta. Garuda Indonesia will increase its flights on the route from four to six daily from December 1.
Both carriers will extend their codeshare agreement to include the additional flights.
The current codeshare partnership between Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia covers flights between Singapore and four points in Indonesia – Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya – along with flights from Singapore to both London-Heathrow and Mumbai. By December 1, both airlines will operate 390 weekly codeshare flights – with the majority 362 between Singapore and Indonesia.
Strengthened Partnership
During the first quarter of 2025, Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines will strengthen the partnership of their frequent flyer programs – GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer – for members of both programs to earn and redeem miles on codeshare routes.
Following the regulator approval by Singapore for the commercial joint venture between the Singapore and Indonesia-based carriers in July, Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines will introduce joint fare products in the first quarter of 2024. Travelers will be able to book flights operated by both airlines between Singapore and four points in Indonesia - Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya – on a single itinerary.
“Singapore has been an important market and destination for Garuda Indonesia especially considering the significant traffic growth between Indonesia and Singapore over the years,” said Irfan Setiaptura, President and Chief Executive Officer, Garuda Indonesia. “This route development is a part of our ongoing effort to respond to the market demand, as well as our commitment in providing seamless connectivity especially for Garuda Indonesia’s passengers to access various destinations served by Singapore Airlines especially to Europe and Asia. Moreover, this partnership is also a part of our longstanding initiative to support national tourism post-pandemic by providing access to many exotic destinations in Indonesia.”
“We appreciate the authorities’ approval to increase services between Singapore and Jakarta,” said Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Airlines. “Our strategic partnership with Garuda Indonesia will provide additional seamless flight options between these key hubs and beyond, while bringing greater value and enhancing service offerings for our customers.”
Goh added: “Both airlines are committed to continue strengthening this important win-win relationship in coming years. Our collaboration will help to boost travel connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore, creating a positive impact on tourism and economic activity in both countries.”
