Singapore Airlines' customers departing from Hong Kong can now check-in for their flights at Hong Kong MTR station.
Using an Octopus card or an Airport Express ticket, passengers departing Hong Kong on Singapore Airlines-operated flights after February 24 will be able to access the in-town check-in counters, obtain their boarding pass/es, and drop their luggage off at the Hong Kong MTR station from 24 hours up to 90 minutes before their scheduled flight departure time. Passengers can then board the Airport Express train to the airport after completing the check-in procedures, or continue to go about their business in the city before heading to the airport.
While the check-in facility does have self-service kiosks and bag-drop stations, customers with only e-passports or Mainland Travel Permits can use the check-in counters at the MTR station.
According to an update on the Hong Kong MTR website, the service will be available for Singapore Airlines' passengers at Hong Kong Station between 0900H to 1720H. The service will not be available for Singapore Airlines' customers at Kowloon Station.
With the addition of Singapore Airlines, four airlines provide the in-town check-in service. The other three airlines - Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, and Qantas – offers the check-in service at both Hong Kong Station and Kowloon Station.
After being suspended amid the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020, the Hong Kong in-town check-in service was resumed in 2023.
