THAI introduces short-haul Royal Silk Class seats

THAI Airways International (THAI) recently unveiled its new Royal Silk Class onboard its narrowbody Airbus A320 aircraft.


Launched in January 2025, the new short-haul Royal Silk Class (Business) are now available following a refurbishment of its A320 aircraft – previously integrated from THAI Smile to its parent company THAI. According to THAI, the seats will be available on all of the airline's 20 A320s by the second quarter of the year.


The new short-haul Royal Silk Class on the A320s will feature 12 seats in a 2-2 configuration across the first three rows of the cabin. Each seat has an adjustable headrest and legrest, fold-away tray table, and beverage holders near the armrests.



In addition to the new short-haul business class product, THAI also stated the A320s are equipped with a wireless entertainment system. The airline will the first and only airline to offer wireless entertainment system in every seat on domestic routes.


In a statement, THAI said: “This upgrade reflects our dedication as Thailand's flag carrier to set new standards in air travel, particularly for short-haul routes. We're offering comprehensive full-service features, including spacious seats designed for maximum comfort, state-of-the-art entertainment systems, premium dining, and exclusive privileges that will make every flight memorable, both domestic and international.”


THAI deploys its A320s on domestic and short-haul international flights. According to THAI, the airline's A320 aircraft with the new Royal Silk Class is available on flights on six domestic routes from Bangkok - Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Phuket, Hat Yai, and Krabi – and 22 international destinations in Asia including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
