To support its international route expansion, South Korean budget carrier T'way Air will take on five Airbus A330neos through lease.

T'way recently reached an agreement with global aviation finance company Avolon for the lease of five A330neos, with deliveries scheduled in 2026. The aircraft will be used to expand its international route network where it currently operates flights to 55 destinations.

According to planespotters.net, T'way currently operates a fleet of 7 Airbus A330s. Recently the airline launched flights to select European cities – Barcelona, Paris, and Rome - with slots acquired as part of conditions set by the European Union to approve Korean Air's merger with Asiana. The airline also plans to launch flights to Frankfurt in October.

We have forged a strong relationship with Avolon and partnering on these new A330neos is an important next step in our growth ambitions,” said Hong Geun Jeong, Representative Director, T'way Air. “With 55 destinations and plans to expand our network the aircraft will help us in our mission to offer passengers exceptional service, reliability and value.”

Already an existing Avolon customer, T'way will become the 12th operator in Avolon's customer base to operate the A330neo. Compared to the previous generation A330ceo, the A330neo offers an increased range of over 13,300km (7,200nm) with a 25% lower fuel consumption.

The T’way Air team is rapidly expanding the airline’s operations and we are delighted to have them as a new A330neo customer,” said Paul Geaney, President and Chief Commercial Officer, Avolon. “The A330neo provides an ideal widebody solution to support their growth strategy. With the largest lessor committed fleet of 447 aircraft, we are well-placed to support our global customers as they look for capacity to meet the continuing high levels of travel demand.”f
