Vietnam Airlines has announced plans to to become the first Vietnam-based carrier to introduce direct flights between Vietnam and Italy with a new route to Milan next summer.
From July 1, 2025, the SkyTeam member airline will launch a new thrice-weekly service (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) from Hanoi to Milan Malpensa. Vietnam Airlines will use Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on the route.
Following the Hanoi-Milan route, Vietnam Airlines plans to introduce a second route to the northern Italian city from Ho Chi Minh City in 2025.
In a statement, Vietnam Airlines said: “This new launch signifies Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to expanding its global network, offering greater flexibility to passengers, but more importantly, fostering economic, social, and political ties between Vietnam and Italy, as well as between Vietnam and Europe and beyond.”
With the addition of Milan, Vietnam Airlines will bring its European network to nine destinations. Vietnam Airlines is the only airline to offer flights from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to cities such as Frankfurt, London, and Paris. The airline will launch flights to Munich, Germany this October.
