Vietnam Airlines has welcomed its first Airbus A320neo.
According to planespotters.net, the A320neo – registration VN-A513 – completed its delivery flight which departed on July 6 from Airbus' facility at Toulouse, France and arrived at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport July 7. The aircraft made a stop at Doha Hamad International Airport on the way to Hanoi.
The Vietnam flag carrier's first of three A320neos to be received this year is part of efforts of the airline's efforts update its fleet, and support its operations during the peak summer period. Vietnam Airlines plans to deploy the aircraft on domestic routes such as Hanoi - Dalat, Hanoi - Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) - Thanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) - Chu Lai.
Vietnam Airlines' A320neo features 182 seats in a two-class configuration – 8 Business and 174 Economy. The aircraft features a wireless IFE system.
Once the three A320neos are delivered, the new aircraft are expected to provide the airline 40,000 seats during the summer and 300,00 during the second half of the year.
Following the addition of the A320neo to its fleet, Vietnam Airlines expects to also add another new aircraft type – the Boeing 787-10 – to its fleet in the future.
