Vietjet recently announced plans for its inaugural flights to New Zealand.
During a recent event in Hanoi attended by the government and business officials of Vietnam and New Zealand held on February 26, Vietjet announced it will launch its first this September. According to Vietjet, it will operate four weekly flights on the new route.
At present, there are no direct air links between Vietnam and New Zealand. The last flights between the two countries since 2018 with Air New Zealand's two separate routes from Auckland to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
According to Vietjet, the new Ho Chi Minh City-Auckland route is a key part of the Vietnam-based budget airline's broader strategy to expand its flight network across Vietnam, as well as major destinations in Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China, South Korea, India, Kazakhstan, and beyond.
