Due to delays in the delivery of new aircraft, Virgin Australia is continuing the suspension of its seasonal service between Adelaide and Bali.
The seasonal service – already suspended between February 6-March 17 and April 28-June 9 – will now be further suspended indefinitely from June onwards.
According to reports from aviation and news outlets such as Australian Aviation, the continued suspension of the service has been attributed to the delayed delivery of 10 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to Virgin Atlantic due to renewed scrutiny over the safety of the 737 MAX family of aircraft. Boeing has been ordered by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to produce no more than 38 MAX jets per month as the American aircraft manufacturer works to improve quality controls.
“We have made the decision to continue suspension of direct Adelaide-Bali services from June 2024 due to various factors including the delayed delivery of new aircraft. We acknowledge this decision will be disappointing for some guests and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience,” a Virgin Australia spokesperson said in a statement.
Virgin Australia has advised customers booked on its flights between Adelaide and Bali from June onwards will be contacted by the airline or their travel agents for alternative arrangements including flights to/from Bali via Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Full refunds will be offered if no suitable alternative is found.
Between Adelaide and Bali, Jetstar and Batik Air currently offers flights on the route.
