Building upon its existing seasonal summer service, WestJet has announced it will expand its flights between Calgary and Tokyo to become a year-round service.
As part of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner schedule for the northern winter season, the Calgary, Canada-based airline announced the expanded year-round services between Calgary and Tokyo-Narita will start on October 27 with three weekly flights.
“This winter, WestJet will fly more than 60,000 seats between Asia and Alberta, creating a catalyst for year-round collaboration between our two unique economies and tourism hubs,” said John Weatherill, Westjet Group Executive VP and Chief Commercial Officer.
“This route has proven to be an exceptional conduit for transpacific leisure and business travellers connecting to Calgary and Alberta.”
Customers will be able to make onward connections to seven destinations beyond Tokyo through its codeshare partner Japan Airlines (JAL).
Along with the announcement of the year-round flights to Tokyo, WestJet also announced the expansion of flights using its 787 aircraft from Calgary and Toronto to destinations in Europe such as London and Paris, Mexico (Cancun, Puerto Vallarta), and Honolulu, Hawaii.
