From August 1, Wizz Air UK will operate daily flights between London Gatwick and Medina. Airbus A321XLR aircraft will be used on the new route.
According to Wizz Air, the airline will facilitate more than 174,000 seats per year to Medina. The budget airline will be the lone carrier operate flights between the two cities.
“The extended reach and efficiency of the brand new Airbus A321 XLR aircraft supports Wizz Air’s continued growth across the Middle East where the airline already has an extensive network. Wizz Air currently operates nearly 100 routes across the region, including a base in Abu Dhabi,” the airline said in a statement.
The new London-Medina route announcement comes as Wizz Air prepares for the delivery of the long-range Airbus A321 variant. Wizz Air previously announced the A321XLR will used on the first flights from Gatwick to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on March 31.
Wizz Air expects to take delivery of its first A321XLR during the first quarter of the year.
